I definitely do my best NOT to be judgmental (I fail miserably at times) but when I think something or someone is in a state of detriment, I must speak up. When is too much "too much"? Cliché right? Let me explain. I came across this story in a group I frequent and I felt compelled to comment on its outrageous{ness}. Yes, I think it’s ridiculous. 39 year old Mikel Ruffinelli holds the record for the World’s Largest Hip. She says, "I love my curves, I love my hips, I love my attributes, I love being unique." Her confidence is cause for applause but is it a farce for her timidity? For example, in the movie, 8 Mile, Rabbit (Eminem) had to battle against Papa Doc on the mic. Rabbit steeped to the mic rapping about his own shortcomings and disparities so that Papa Doc did not have the opportunity to use them against him. Could this be the same scenario? Are we [the media] perpetuating and contributing to Ruffinelli's unhealthy denial of her body image and celebrating her 8 FOOT circumference hips by giving her the new world record title for 'World's Largest Hips"? What I mean is what is she willing to do to keep her "shapely loveliness" to maintain the title. It does appear that she is content with her physical attributes and her state of mind remains upbeat and jovial, but is it a front? Ruffinelli contends, "I think it’s feminine to have curves. It’s very womanly, it makes us beautiful. I rather be this size and happy with me. Loving me. Than to be skinny; that size and be unhappy ". I say too much of ANYTHING is off balance (NO PUN INTENDED) and ignorance is bliss.

She says that is genetics rather than diet and a consequence of having 4 children... REALLY? I guess my intelligence is in question here. I do applaud her for exercising but is it enough? Is it consistent and conducive to a weight loss?
